Here are some wise words, addressed to his son, from my old English professor, Dr. Louis Markos of HBU—who, by the way, models these words possibly the best I've ever seen (only possibly rivaled by, strangely enough, a fellow colleague).
"The secret to happiness, my son, is gratitude. If you would be happy, truly happy, then you need to learn to thank God continually for your life and your health, your family and your friends, your talents and your opportunities. Everything comes to us as a gift and a blessing, and it is vital that we not only express our thanks but that we feel it within. We were made to praise and thank our Creator, and when we do not do so, we (literally) malfunction."
